Caleb Borden and Matt Navarro playing acoustic guitars together in a lamp-lit living room

Woodford

Two generations of the same Kappa Sigma chapter at Stephen F. Austin, brought together by a shared love of a good song. Now they sing them together, guitars in hand.

The Story

Before Woodford was a band, Matt and Caleb were part of different generations of the same fraternity. Both rushed Kappa Sigma at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas — years apart. Matt graduated before Caleb ever joined, leaving behind a reputation as the singer of his generation.

Years later, Caleb joined and eventually began bringing his guitar around, singing for the older brothers. The comparison came almost immediately.

“Matt Navarro 2.0”

The two names were connected by the fraternity rather than by any friendship of their own — until the fall of 2024, when Matt and Caleb finally met at a Kappa Sigma alumni tailgate. They quickly discovered a shared connection that went beyond the chapter: both had become the singers of their respective generations, carrying the same role in two different eras of the same brotherhood.

Nearly two years later, in August 2026, those two generations came together when Matt and Caleb formed Woodford — an independent country music group built around two voices, two guitars, and a shared love for the songs that shaped them.

The Duo

Two voices, one brotherhood

Matt Navarro

Vocals & Guitar

The singer of his Kappa Sigma generation at Stephen F. Austin, Matt graduated with a reputation already made — years before Caleb ever joined the chapter.

Caleb Borden

Vocals & Guitar

Caleb joined the chapter a couple years after Matt graduated, eventually bringing his guitar around and singing for the older brothers — earning his nickname before the two had ever properly met.

The EP

Neat (Living Room Sessions)

Neat is exactly what its name suggests: a raw, intimate collection of some of Matt and Caleb's favorite songs to cover, recorded at home around a single microphone.

Rather than chasing a polished studio sound, the EP captures the feeling of two friends sitting in a living room with guitars in hand — just singing songs they love.
